The Two pillars of my life

A very important term we have in our life is called "Parents". Two very important persons in our life who are solely responsible for giving  us the beautiful life.

For me, they are my MA and BABA, on whom I owe my life and without them I am incomplete in every sense. They have made me the person I am today.
So today I am here, to write some words on my dearest Mom and Dad.

Poila Baishak : Bengali New Year

Shubho Noboborsho to all my friends

Today we celebrate "Poila Baishakh" or the beginning of the new year as per the Bengali Calendar.
It is really an auspicious day for the Bengali people. I still remember while I was a kid when I really don't know the meaning of this day will only think that it is a day when you have to wear new clothes and visit every shops and collect sweet box and the Bengali calendar. As a kid, it was a day when my Dad will be going to office wearing the Traditional Kurta Pajama and will return early carrying a big packet of sweets.

An exciting Weekend in Mangalore - DAY 1

This weekend was the most exciting weekend for me. I enjoyed it a lot.
My brother-in-law was in town to spend the weekend with us. He works in Bangalore and so we invited him to come over in a weekend and enjoy the city. This weekend was for 3 days as we took leave on Friday for the occasion of "Chandramana Ugadi", followed by our usual off-days of Saturday and Sunday.

He reached here on Friday morning. I prepared french toast and orange juice for breakfast followed by a simple lunch comprising on Rice, Dal and Cauliflower curry. He liked it a lot. He was very excited and want to see the city so we decided to go out after our lunch.

First we watched the movie "Jungle Book" in the theaters. It was nice we liked it. Especially I was thrilled to watch a movie wearing the 3D glasses for the first time. The theater was in the biggest mall in Mangalore which is just beside the sea. The food court here has a magnificent view of the sea. On the other side of mall we get to see the awesome view of the entire city of Mangalore. It was so nice,
We took a couple of pictures of that magnificent view.

A Horrible Incident

Last week on 31st of March there was a horrific incident occurred in Girish Park, Kolkata, West Bengal.
I know these area from my childhood days and very well aware of the condition there. People from Kolkata very well know that what is North Kolkata all about. It is congested with old buildings with narrow lanes and roads half covered with vendor shops. Some of the buildings in North Kolkata is of 100 years old and in a verge of breaking down anytime. I really feel amazed to know that authorities has planned to create a flyover in such a  road that too without proper planning and materials.
The result is in front of us. The under construction bridge collapsed taking huge toll of people in a bright sunny afternoon.

Mangalore through my eyes

Life can be so different if you stay in completely unknown city. Different atmosphere, different people etc. etc.
For the last 2.5 years I am having an experience of staying in new city completely different from the one I used to live, where I was born an grown up.

Now, Let me tell you why I am here. There is small story behind it. After my marriage I was staying in Kolkata with my husband and we both were working there. My husband got a good offer in an IT company in the city called "Mangalore" and shifted. After he shifted to Mangalore I went to stay with my parents. But I was missing him a lot. But how should I go there? I was working too and need a job there also. But Mangalore is not like Bangalore where you can find an IT company in every corner of the city. So had to wait...

Kadai Mushroom and Babycorn

This is the very first recipe I am sharing in my blog.

I love mushroom like anything. Every month we go for this monthly shopping and I pickup one packet of mushroom and try out recipes on that. All this while I tried some Chinese preparation but unfortunately they did not turn out well. So, I started making the Indian recipes with mushroom and baby-corn and wallah! it is so tasty.
