An exciting Weekend in Mangalore - DAY 2

Sorry for posting this one so late after Day 1. Actually I was so busy with other things that didn't get the time publish this. Finally today I did it. Please check.

The second day of the weekend was the most exciting one. It was Saturday and hubby and me decided to take bro-in-law for whole day trip to explore the beautiful city of Mangalore. By this time we get to know that he likes going to the beaches than to the hills. So we booked a car and after having our breakfast started our journey.

St. Mary's Island

Oh! How can I describe the journey... It was soooo nice. I must say the highways in the State of Karnataka is just awesome, you can really feel the charm of driving.

First we went to the St. Marys Island because here you can experience the real charm and beauty of the sea. So we reached the port and bought tickets for the ferry. As soon as the ferry arrive, we stepped into it and quickly took the seat from where we can see the best view of the sea. For me and hubby it was the second time, so we knew how beautiful the trip is all about. Soon the ferry started its journey first going through the "Udyavara Estuary" which flows into the Arabian Sea. It was awesome. There was high tide at that time and the ferry was dancing like anything. Here you have to change to a smaller ferry in the middle of the sea to reach the Island. Big Ferry doesn't go near the beaches. Even the small ferry will drop you few meter away from the actual beach. You have to literally jump into the sea and struggle to reach the beach. The island is beautiful. Most interestingly the Beach has less sand and more shells so in another way you can call it a "Shell Beach". The island has been formed by the distinctive geological formation of columnar basaltic lava.

The ferry has given an hour to roam around the island so we quickly went to the beach and here the Sea looks fantastic. Though it is quite dangerous to bath here but one cannot resist the desire to swim into the sea. But the life guards are really strict here. If they see that you are attempting to jump into the sea to take the fun out of it, they will warn and shout at you like anything. Besides it is a fantastic place for photographers. Time will fly and soon we checked that we have already spend 45 minutes here. So we went to the other side of the beach from where we will getting into the ferry again. Getting into it was quite tricky. With the waves coming and going I had to struggle hard to get into the boat but finally succeeded. Bro-in-law was sooo happy with the entire trip. We reached the port after 15 min of travelling in the sea and quickly headed towards Malpe beach.

Malpe beach has a fascinating view of the sea. We were hungry like a lion at that time so quickly entered the beach restaurant there called as "SEASHELLS"(Perfect name!!).. The restaurant offers Thai, Chinese and Continental dishes. We decided to stick to Chinese food and ordered few delicacies.

To cool ourselves we took "Fresh Lime Soda". We enjoyed the food and then went to the beach to feel the sea. One thing I have noticed here, that any beach you go is kept so clean and beautiful. It applies to the most popular as well as the remotest one.

While roaming in the Malpe Beach we decided to go to another Beach called "Maravanthe Beach" which is a few more kilometers from there. The reason was something very interesting. The Maravanthe Beach gives you a spectacular view of both Sea and river at the same time. Not clear?? let me tell you in details. As you proceed towards the beach you get to see the beautiful Arabian Sea on your left and the calm Kolluru river on your right. Such a wonderful picturesque... Loved it.

On our way back home as per bro-in-law wish we again dropped in "Pabbas" for gorging into those delicious mouth watering ice creams.

Well we were really tired after that long and exciting trip and soon after our dinner we went to sleep keeping those beautiful memories of the trip in our heart.
